Baker Hill(R) Launches Platform to Automate Loan Portfolio Monitoring

25 April 2006

Baker Hill(R), an Experian company, today announced the release of Portfolio Risk Advisor(R), the first solution that leverages the power of Experian data and analytics and Baker Hill's risk- management expertise. Portfolio Risk Advisor is an automated loan portfolio monitoring solution that uses internal and external performance and behavioral data to help financial institutions streamline the portfolio management process and mitigate risk. The solution is officially being rolled out today at Baker Hill's Solution Summit being held in San Antonio, Texas.

"Baker Hill has had great success in helping clients in the area of automated credit origination," said Mark Hill, president of Baker Hill. "With Portfolio Risk Advisor, we're leveraging our risk-management experience to offer clients a solution to manage the credit risk in their loan portfolios more quickly and efficiently, once those loans are booked."

Portfolio Risk Advisor combines Baker Hill's risk-management capabilities and the power of Experian scores and data to give financial institutions a greater understanding of the strengths and weaknesses in their portfolio. Portfolio Risk Advisor delivers an accurate, point-in-time view of the institution's entire portfolio by integrating internal origination and performance data across the financial institution with external scores and data from Experian, as well as other data sources as required.

"The ability to develop products like Portfolio Risk Advisor showcases the reasons why Baker Hill came to Experian's attention in the first place," said Mark Zablan, president, Experian's Business Information Group. "By combining the core competencies of both organizations, we can now deliver integrated business solutions that not only meet industry needs, but also exceed expectations."

Portfolio monitoring is typically a very manually intensive process. Commonly, all credit accounts regardless of size are handled alike, making the process very time-consuming, expensive and inefficient. Automating the monitoring of a loan portfolio redirects staff time to focus on accounts that require more analysis while quickly pushing obvious high-performing accounts forward for renewal. Renewals represent roughly 35 percent of loan application volume.

Additionally, Portfolio Risk Advisor serves as an early warning system for problem credit accounts. Using scoring data and a financial institution's credit policy, Portfolio Risk Advisor identifies and flags suspect accounts before they become problems, providing a significant lift in efficiency and effectiveness to a financial institution. The same data can be used to identify cross-sell opportunities in the portfolio.

Portfolio Risk Advisor is designed to leverage the value of Experian's business information, as well as other external data sources as required. Experian's business databases provide comprehensive, verified information on more than 18 million companies spanning every U.S. industry, including the most extensive data available on the diverse small-business market.

Additionally, Experian(R) owns or partners with owners of commercial databases throughout the world and has online access to 50 million businesses worldwide.
