BWI Welcomes Spring with Parking Promotion, Unveils New Credit Card PaymentOption; 'Park Happy @ BWI' Coupons Available on Web Site24 March 2006
With the start of the spring, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) officials want airport customers to "Park Happy @ BWI." The Airport kicked-off spring by providing customers with several coupon options that reduce daily rates for Airport parking facilities. The coupons are available on BWI's Web site -- http://www.BWIairport.com -- and are valid through June 21, 2006. The coupons will allow customers to: -- Save $5 off the full day rate in the Hourly Garage. Customers will be able to park for only $15 a day in the Hourly Garage (usual rate for Hourly Garage is $20 per day). -- Save $4 off the full day rate in the ESP (Express Service Parking) lot. Customers will be able to park for only $10 a day in ESP (usual rate for ESP is $14 per day). -- Save $2 off the full day rate in the Daily Garage. Customers will be able to park for only $8 a day in the Daily Garage (usual rate for Daily Garage is $10 per day). "We want our customers to have the opportunity to try our parking products at discounted prices to become better acquainted with our facilities," said Timothy L. Campbell, A.A. E, executive director of the Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA). "Since parking is often the first step in the overall airport experience, we want our customers to 'Park Happy at BWI' with a number of close, covered, and convenient parking options." In addition to the parking coupons available on the Airport's Web site, BWI also introduces a new parking payment option for the Hourly Garage. "Credit Card In / Credit Card Out" provides customers with an easy, convenient payment method for the BWI Hourly Garage. The new payment method allows customers to insert a credit card in the ticket dispenser when entering the Hourly Garage. The same credit card would be used upon exiting the Hourly Garage. The transaction would be automatically applied to the customer's account and a receipt is presented. The Credit Card In / Credit Card Out system eliminates the need to retain a parking ticket when traveling. The program eliminates the problem of misplaced tickets and expedites the parking payment process. Other parking innovations at BWI include the Airport's cell phone lot and the BWI Smart Park System. BWI was the first U.S. airport to utilize Smart Park, an automated parking system that guides customers to available spaces in the Hourly and Daily garages using a series of colored lights.
