CardRatings.com Adds Credit News Feature to Its Top-Rated Website

10 August 2005

The increase of consumer identity theft, bank mergers, and security breaches within the credit card industry have left consumers more concerned than ever about their dealings with credit cards. Responding to this rising interest CardRatings.com, a nationally recognized website dedicated to providing consumers with the most up-to-date credit card information, recently began posting featured news briefs in an effort to bring important and timely information—in an easy-to-chew format—to consumers.

Every few days, new features are posted on the CardRatings.com home page under the heading Credit News, where it is easy to make a quick check of recent events, statistics, or other happenings in the credit card industry.

Curtis Arnold is the founder and public relations director of CardRatings.com. He is a nationally recognized speaker, educator and highly regarded expert on information regarding the credit card industry.

“Without a doubt, almost every individual is directly affected by credit reports, credit scores, identity theft and yes, even bank mergers—whether they know it or not.” says Arnold. “We at CardRatings.com serve consumers by providing information and education that directly affects them, and that helps them to navigate the sometimes unpredictable waters of credit.”

News features are researched and written by Arnold and CardRatings.com staff. Arnold actively seeks out reports involving credit issues that interest or affect consumers, either directly or indirectly.

Arnold adds, “Some of our reports are obtained by interviewing consumer advocates—we get their perspective on how the story will affect consumers.”

Tips are also garnered directly from consumers via the active credit forum (over 30,000 posts) on CardRatings.com.

CardRatings.com, already a highly valued source of information by consumers and journalists, houses an abundance of information on the site such as card reviews (both staff and consumer rated) and educational articles. Arnold is frequently cited in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Consumer Reports, and Smart Money, among many others.

The featured news briefs cover credit related topics important to consumers, including warnings about unfriendly consumer credit offers or practices, bank mergers, credit scams, and credit counseling agencies. The briefs also serve to highlight consumer credit offers or practices that are consumer friendly. Topics have included student credit card debt, teaching children to save in order to avoid credit card debt, and a study that analyzed credit union credit cards vs. bank issued credit cards.
