ControlGuard Protects Credit Card Issuing Company

30 March 2006

ControlGuard, a leading provider of endpoint security solutions, today announced that Leumi Card, a credit card issuer, has selected ControlGuard's Endpoint Access Manager to maintain customer data confidentiality by enforcing endpoint policies set by the organization.

"The credit card market, like the banking market, requires special emphasis on control and security in varying degrees -- and that is why we looked for the optimal solution to protect our endpoints," said Yigal Naor, director of technology and procurement at Leumi Card. "After conducting an in-depth review, we chose ControlGuard's solution, which met our needs and requirements. ControlGuard's system management is simple and user-friendly, and the management console clearly displays real-time security information to the support and information security center."

As a financial organization, maintaining customer data confidentiality is a top priority for Leumi Card. Following various incidents of serious data breaches at other financial institutions, Leumi Card started a search for an endpoint security solution. Prior to ControlGuard, the company handled security issues by implementing basic measures, such as blocking USB ports and prohibiting the use of CDs. This protection proved insufficient for an organization where data security is so critical.

Using Endpoint Access Manager, Leumi Card was able to be more granular and flexible with its security. For example, there were concerns regarding information leaks when unauthorized devices were brought in from home or purchased through the consumer channel and used undetected within the enterprise. Leumi Card resolved this problem by procuring and distributing its own removable storage devices and configuring Endpoint Access Manager to allow authorized personnel to use approved devices while blocking all other unauthorized devices.

"There are two major issues that can be resolved by using ControlGuard -- preventing information leaks and controlling the uploading and downloading of data files," said John Kamni, director of information security at Leumi Card. "The system allows us to block various memory storage devices and prevent unauthorized use of CDs. The ControlGuard solution enables Leumi Card to provide a response to two problems -- controlling both the outgoing and incoming information by preventing the use of various media."

"ControlGuard's entry into the credit card market was the next step in its overall support of the financial services industry -- an area that is sensitive by nature and requires protection of critical information," said Israel Levy, CEO of ControlGuard. "ControlGuard solutions allow Leumi Card to add a vital layer of protection to its defense shield, preventing the leakage of critical information from its databases."
