Debt Shield Supports Troops, Jacob s Light Foundation

29 December 2006

Debt Shield employees donated to the Jacob’s Light Foundation to honor Debt Shield Financial Manager Deanna Tichenor’s son, who is currently stationed in Iraq.

The Jacob’s Light Foundation’s mission is to send necessities and comfort to overseas military, specifically for soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Their focus is on members of the military without family or whose families are unable to afford to send packages from home.

“This donation hits particularly close to home,” said Jill Strider. “We hope our contribution uplifts and provides some comfort to American soldiers who will spend this holiday season far away from home.”

In addition to the food, toiletries, reading and writing materials, bug wipes, sunscreen, batteries and other necessities that the foundation regularly sends, they will also send special holidays packages this time of year. So far, the foundation has sent 35,000 lbs of items and letters.

The Jacob’s Light Foundation was founded by Dorine Kenney whose son, Spc. Jacob Fletcher, was killed in Iraq in November, 2003. To learn more about the Jacob’s Light Foundation or to send donations visit www.JacobsProgram.org

Debt Shield’s Denim Fund was started in March, 2005. Debt Shield employees contribute weekly to the Denim Fund in exchange for the privilege of wearing jeans on Fridays.
