MasterCard Canada Presents First Financial and Payment Services Leadership Summit

13 August 2005

MasterCard Canada and SourceMedia Conferences & Exhibitions today announced the first Financial and Payment Services Leadership Summit to be held November 7-8, 2005 at The Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, Ontario. Subtitled "Beyond Credit: The Future of Payments in Canada," the two-day Leadership Summit will look at the future evolution of the Canadian payments system, the role of consumer credit in the Canadian economy, and the coming wave of innovation in the industry.

Participants in The Financial and Payment Services Leadership Summit will include senior executives from the banking, payment, and consumer lending industries, as well as key industry analysts and officials from the public sectors. Speakers will include key Canadian experts as well as international thought leaders such as Lawrence Bossidy, former CEO of Honeywell and author, Executing and Confronting Reality, Malcolm Gladwell, author of The Tipping Point and the just-released Blink, and Michael Raynor, co-author with Clayton
Christensen of The Innovator's Solution.

"Intense competition and constant product innovation put pressure on Canadian financial sector executives to stay on the leading edge of the payments industry," said David Evans, managing director of SourceMedia Conferences & Exhibitions. "The intent of the Leadership Summit is to provide an integrated view of what is happening today in Canada, what changes are pending, and how best to manage the change and harness the business opportunities."

The Financial and Payment Services Leadership Summit will draw on the editorial resources of several leading SourceMedia publications, including Credit Card Management, Bank Technology News, Card Technology, American Banker, and others. The Summit will be presented by MasterCard Canada.

"MasterCard is very pleased to establish this unique event in Canada," said Kevin Stanton, President, MasterCard Canada. "The pace of innovation in the Canadian payments sector and the broad impact of the industry on the economy both demanded that we take the time for an in-depth examination of the industry and its future evolution. We are looking forward to hosting a cross-section of industry participants and influencers in what is sure to be a dynamic and important discussion."
