Real Payment Gateways Made Accessible by WebAssist

6 April 2005

WebAssist.com Corporation today announced the availability of Express Checkout, a new payment service. With Express Checkout, Web developers, auction sellers and online businesses of all sizes get an immediate online store connection and their shoppers get to use their regular credit cards quickly, easily and – most importantly – securely. Express Checkout offers low credit card discount rates and no application fees, annual fees, leasing arrangements or termination penalties of any kind. Businesses in U.S., Canada, U.K, and several European countries can use Express Checkout.

Express Checkout is available to U.S. companies and home businesses through WebAssist’s merchant bank partner, e-onlinedata. e-onlinedata is one of the nation’s most trusted merchant account providers for US based companies. "This is an important new relationship for e-onlinedata," said John Waldron, Vice President of Sales and Marketing with e-onlinedata." Webassist has chosen e-onlinedata as their preferred provider of real time credit card processing, and we are excited about the opportunity to work with WebAssist, Express Checkout and their valued clients. We are very pleased to be a part of this venture."

To make eCommerce drop-in easy, WebAssist has simultaneously released the WA Express Checkout Toolkit, as well as, an update to their leading shopping cart extension, WA eCart. WA Express Checkout Toolkit, a free extension, installs in Macromedia Dreamweaver and gives Web developers and small business owners a simple way to sell items through Express Checkout. The easy-to-use wizard inserts a professionally designed Buy Now button on any Web page, without coding. In addition to conveying product information and pricing, the Express Checkout Buy Now button allows Web designers to optionally charge shipping, handling, and flat-rate or percentage-based tax. The updated WA eCart – available separately and bundled with WebAssist flagship product, WA eCommerce Suite – includes support for the Express Checkout payment gateway.

“What makes this exciting for the very large market of online sellers is the marriage of service and technology,” said Eric Ott, President of WebAssist. “Express Checkout brings a true payment gateway to those who have had to settle for non-traditional payment methods that appeared less than professional. The technology built into WA Express Checkout Toolkit connects this sophisticated service to small business owners and expert Dreamweaver designers.”

To support Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Portugal and The Netherlands, WebAssist has partnered with Optimal Payments. Optimal Payments is is a global provider of proprietary payment processing services with headquarters in Montreal with offices in London. Optimal Payments is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Optimal Group, Inc.

WA Express Checkout Toolkit works with Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Dreamweaver MX on both Windows and Macintosh platforms and is available for free directly from WebAssist. Upgrades to WA eCart 2.2 and WA eCommerce Suite 2.2 with Express Checkout support are free for existing product owners. WebAssist is currently working to make Express Checkout available more regions of the world. For more information call WebAssist +1 (760) 633-4013, extension 2.
