Societe Generale Forms Integrated U.S. Debt Capital Markets Group

4 June 2006

Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking announces today the creation of an integrated debt origination and distribution platform in the US encompassing all of the firm's loan and bond market activities. The new U.S. Debt Capital Markets Group combines all of the firm's U.S. debt capital markets product expertise under one roof -- loan and structured debt syndicate, high yield and mezzanine debt, private placements, and euro bond origination -- to ensure that the firm's clients are provided optimal solutions for their fund raising and investment needs.

The group's resources will be aligned with the firm's industry expertise in Media & Telecom, Gaming, Lodging & Leisure, Sports Finance, Real Estate, Utilities, and Oil & Gas, and will work closely with the firm's product areas including Leveraged Finance, Securitization, Project Finance and Export and Commodity Finance, to ensure enhanced client coverage.

Neil Parekh, Global Head of High Yield Finance, has been additionally appointed as the Head of the new U.S. Debt Capital Markets Group, which will number approximately 40 professionals in New York. He will report to the New York-based Head of Debt Finance in the Americas, Paolo Taddonio.

Gail McDermott, David Stern and Julian Carter will continue in their roles as Head of Private Placements, Head of Securitization Syndicate and Head of Origination, respectively, reporting to Parekh. Neil Parekh will assume on a temporary basis the day to day management responsibility for the firm's structuring and syndicate activities.

Among other key changes, Ted Lunney has been named Head of High Yield Sales and Trading and Terry Sanabria has been appointed Head of Loan Sales and Trading. Both Lunney and Sanabria report to Parekh.

"The creation of a single debt capital markets platform will greatly enhance our ability to service clients -- both issuers and investors," said Taddonio. "With this new organization in place the group is well positioned to extend our debt franchise in the U.S. and contribute to our regional business strategy."
