Symantec Solutions Help Safeguard HP Business PC Users Worldwide

17 November 2005

Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today announced
that Symantec solutions will be offered across the HP commercial PC lineup
to help protect business users worldwide. Either Symantec AntiVirus or
Norton Internet Security 2005 AntiSpyware Edition, along with any upgraded
versions of the same programs, will ship on select HP commercial notebook,
desktop, and tablet PCs distributed in North America, Europe, Asia Pacific,
and Latin America.

Users will receive 60 days of complimentary protection updates for either
Symantec AntiVirus or Norton Internet Security. Once the initial
subscription expires, users will have the option to purchase either a
12-month or 24-month renewal. Small business customers running Symantec
AntiVirus will also be able to purchase five-, 10-, and 25-user licenses.

"Threats such as worms and Trojan horses and security risks such as spyware
put business PC users in jeopardy of a variety of dangers, from lost
productivity to confidential information theft," said Matthew Moynahan,
vice president, consumer products and solutions, for Symantec. "Symantec
security solutions guard against today's most prevalent threats, enabling
customers to maximize their technology investments and defend their systems
and information from e-mail fraud, identity theft, and more."

According to Symantec's most recent Internet Security Threat Report, small
businesses rose to number two on the list of Top Targeted Industries during
the period between January 1 and June 30, 2005.

"For the HP user, technology is about performance, reliability, and ease of
use," said Scott Swist, worldwide program manager, personal systems
security solutions, for HP. "By offering Symantec security solutions with
our PCs, we are helping ensure that HP business customers have a safer and
more reliable computing experience right out of the box."

Symantec AntiVirus provides easy, smart, and reliable virus protection for
business PC users. Symantec AntiVirus proactively blocks ports used by
Internet worms, stopping threats at their point of entry. Immediate
protection is ensured with default settings optimized for maximum
protection, including blocking of spyware, adware, and other security
risks. Symantec AntiVirus removes viruses, worms, and Trojan horses and
automatically receives the latest protection updates through Symantec's
LiveUpdate technology.

Norton Internet Security is the most complete and intuitive online security
and privacy suite for Windows users. With broad protection from spyware and
adware as well as virus protection, privacy protection, intrusion
prevention, a firewall, and spam filtering, Norton Internet Security will
offer HP business PC customers the ability to maximize protection and
