United States Organizations for Bankruptcy Alternatives (USOBA) announces Attorney Douglas Crowder as guest speaker at summer conference in Denver, Co13 June 2006
(PRWEB) June 12, 2006 -- The United States Organizations for Bankruptcy Alternatives, Inc. (USOBA) will hold its 2006 Summer Conference at the Omni Hotel in Denver, Colorado, July 21st and 22nd. USOBA http://www.usoba.org announced Monday that Attorney Douglas A. Crowder will be speaking at the conference. Mr. Crowder, a 1977 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law, was one of the first attorneys to provide debt settlement services as an alternative to bankruptcy in the early 1990's. Mr. Crowder will be speaking on two topics of interest to the debt settlement industry: (1) Bankruptcy under the new law and (2) Defending collection lawsuits. His Bankruptcy presentation will address the common misconception that bankruptcy is no longer available to consumers under the new law, describe some of the new requirements, as well including a general description of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy procedures. His presentation on lawsuit defense will include (a) what constitutes valid service of process (b) vacating default judgments (c) procedures to expect during a lawsuit (d) defenses available at trial, and (e) how creditors can collect if a judgment is obtained. Mr. Crowder has delivered numerous public lectures on bankruptcy and its alternatives, and has provided continuing legal education to attorneys in California and Washington State. He has advised numerous debt settlement companies, spoken at conferences of debt settlement industry trade organizations, and contributed articles to their newsletters. He currently practices in Los Angeles, California.
