uWink Announces New Touch-Screen Order System for Restaurants

16 April 2005

uWink, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: UWNK) today announced plans to market the uWink Ordering System, a touch-screen order entry system for restaurants. The uWink Ordering System, an extension of uWink's SNAP and Bear Shop technology, will allow customers to place their orders via touch-screen terminals, reducing errors and speeding the order process.

The uWink Ordering System will allow customers to use ATM and credit cards to place their orders, providing a cashless ordering system. This cashless, real-time order entry system will also allow restaurant owners and managers to review orders, inventory, revenue and staffing via the Internet in real-time.

The new system will allow customers to directly place their order on a touch-screen order terminal. Their order is then received in the kitchen and prepared by the cook to the customer's specifications. Customers can then pick up their orders at the counter or runners can then deliver the order to the customer's table. Customers will no longer have to wait for the waiter to bring them the menu or for their order to be taken.

"This is the first step to providing restaurant goers with an easy to use ordering system," said Nolan Bushnell, CEO of uWink. "And by providing restaurant owners with real-time business information, such as revenue and order status, they are better enabled to run a profitable business."

The uWink Ordering System will also enable restaurants to establish loyalty programs for frequent diners through the use of "club cards." The club cards will allow customers to enter their preferences such as seating, menu and drink favorites, etc., which are then accessed by the uWink Ordering System when the club card is swiped by the customer. The club card will also keep track of loyalty points, which can be redeemed for rewards such as drinks or food.

"We believe The Great American Coffee Company (GACC) will have a distinct advantage over the competition through the use of uWink's Order System," said Tom Hemingway, president and CEO of The Great American Coffee Company. "Being able to provide our customers with the ability to order their coffee with the swipe of a 'GACC club card' is a huge benefit and loyalty-builder for our time-sensitive customers."

In line with uWink's strategy, the uWink Ordering System takes advantage of uWink's proprietary touch-screen software seen in SNAP and Bear Shop. uWink is able to provide different applications by leveraging its existing uWink software for various markets.
